Brewer's Beast

Tales from the forefront of the real beer revolution!

Cockpit Craft Brewhouse - Helles Belles Blonde Ale

Cockpit Craft Brewhouse Craft Brewery and Eatery is situated in Cullinan; the very same place where the famous stones of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom were stolen from.  Its illustrious history of gems is somewhat continued with the existence of a true blue craft brewery.

I have just tasted the Helles Belles Blonde Ale, a wonderful concoction that has masses of caramel and fruit on offer, delivered in a light and refreshing beer, weighing in at a moderately light 4% ABV.  It not to dissimilar to Robson’s East Coast Ale, but I feel that this is a more polished product, if you will excuse the pun.

Helles Belles is definitely a great session beer for hot summer days.  The kind where the smell of searing flesh wafts in between the conversation, water is just not sufficient to quench your enormous thirst and the staccato rhythm of cricket commentators’ speech seeps from the television speakers to reassure you that you are firmly planted in the southern parts of Africa.

I plan to visit the brewery in the near future and will definitely be reporting back on the riches I hope to discover there, specifically those of the liquid variety of course.
